Apple to Introduce Second-Generation Action Button in iPhone 16 Pro Models

Apple has reportedly surmounted manufacturing obstacles that previously hindered mass production of its first solid-state or Taptic Button. As a result, the tech giant is gearing up to unveil this innovative button as a second-generation Action Button in its upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, slated for release in the following year.

According to credible sources, including Instant Digital, a prominent Weibo leaker, the forthcoming second-generation Action Button is expected to seamlessly integrate with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max's frame, maintaining the titanium build seen in this year's models.

However, no significant alterations are anticipated for the power and volume buttons on these devices. Currently, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to continue using physical buttons for these functions. It's worth noting that, as MacRumors points out, Apple's plans are subject to change, although there is no concrete evidence suggesting such a shift at this juncture.

Instead, it appears that the successful introduction of the solid-state Action Button will likely lay the foundation for future changes in subsequent Pro models. This hardware upgrade is poised to enable the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max to offer an array of Action Button customization options, potentially surpassing the current functionalities that are restricted to short and long presses.

Apple enthusiasts and industry observers are eagerly awaiting the official debut of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, which is expected to introduce this innovative feature, promising enhanced user interaction and personalization.
