OnePlus has released a fresh wave of information regarding its highly anticipated OnePlus 12, shedding light on some of the device's essential camera specifications. The company had previously revealed certain features of the upcoming smartphone, including a new ultra-bright display and the utilization of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Now, OnePlus has disclosed that the OnePlus 12 will boast a cutting-edge Lytia camera sensor, developed through a collaboration between OnePlus and Sony.

The particulars of this new camera sensor, simply referred to as "Lytia," distinguish it from its predecessor, the Lytia LYT-808 used in the OnePlus Open, which was presented during October. OnePlus had made audacious claims about the Lytia LYT-808, asserting that its dual-layer transistor Pixel stacked arrangement outperformed the renowned Sony IMX989 and ISOCELL HP2 sensors. However, independent tests cast some doubt on these claims.

The specific characteristics of the primary camera of the OnePlus 12 are yet to be fully revealed. Earlier expectations had hinted at the device featuring the Sony IMX966, a 50 MP sensor renowned for its 1/1.4-inch optical format, f/1.7 aperture, and a 23 mm equivalent focal length. As enthusiasts await further details on this aspect, a OnePlus executive has shared a set of detailed sample images captured using the OnePlus 12, showcasing its camera capabilities at various focal lengths.

The OnePlus 12 is anticipated to launch in China next month, while availability in other regions is expected in early 2024. With OnePlus continuously raising the curtain on features and specifications, tech enthusiasts eagerly await more insights into this forthcoming flagship device
